Hank Mondale, a rough-around-the-edges P.I. with a small drinking problem and a large gambling problem, needs a break. With his landlord threatening eviction and his bookie threatening worse, things look bleak. Until real estate mogul Thomas Blake calls with an incredible story a monster is trying to kill his daughter. Hank figures she's probably some whacked-out spoiled brat, but desperate, Hank takes the case to track down the supposed monster. It seems that people around Mackenzie Blake are disappearing. It's obviously no coincidence. Was Hank hired to unwittingly aid a wealthy murderess? Or is there really someone...or some thing, trying to kill Mackenzie Blake?
A symphony plays that only It can hear. But there will be a special performance, just for her.
Symphony of Blood hits like a sledgehammer. Fast and furious. I loved this book.

Symphony of Blood A Hank Mondale Supernatural Case eBook Adam Pepper
Adam Pepper's foray into the genre of Supernatural Mystery has gotten off to a great start. For anyone who likes mysteries, getting to know the protagonist is key for any serial. Mr. Pepper does this with skill, creating Hank Mondale, a Private Investigator with a taste for bourbon that is nearly as unquenchable as his bad luck.
Hank Mondale is a character who makes you want to keep reading to find out whether he's going to sink or swim, depending on the situation he's in.
Symphony is a mythical construct that seems to come right out of a nightmare and onto the pages. The journey to see whether this dark and brooding creature operates with great malevolence, or simply from pure animal instincts, and the way it's interwoven with Hank Mondale is what drives the story forward.
Oh, and there's all kinds of creative deaths, sleazy drug dealers, spoiled heiresses and conniving business men. At no point does the story slow down. You're staying for the ride.
This is a great start to hopefully more stories of Hank Mondale, and surely leaves open a prequel for more Symphony.
I'd like an encore please.

Symphony of Blood A Hank Mondale Supernatural Case eBook Adam Pepper Reviews
I just finished Symphony of Blood and let me tell you, I couldn't put it down. I was done in about two days.
Hank Mondale is a PI with not alot going on in his life. A mysterous call gives him the modivation to investigate a strange case involving a creature. Even when he doesn't believe in the evidence around him, hank sticks to the case and saves his clients.
I know I'm leaving alot out, but I don't want to spoil any of it for the people that haven't read it yet. And you will want to read it. I will tell you this though, the cliff hanger at the end will leave you thinking that another book is in order.
GO BUY THE BOOK!! You won't be disappointed.

Half hardboiled noir, half hardcore horror. This is a genre fan's dream. You'll love the big twist. Trust me, I'm your friend. )
Symphony of Blood by Adam Pepper is a police procedural mystery, with one big twist. There is a supernatural element to it, or rather a creature element that was a lot of fun and really made this novel different. It starts out like a typical P.I. mystery, with characters that are all very likable and engaging. It is about half way through the book that things take an interesting turn, and elevate the story out of anything ordinary. This was a book that surprised me in a good way. It was a well written, fun read, and I will be looking forward to any more in the series that Pepper has to offer.
The point of a reading a good book is to forget reality and be entertained. Adam Pepper certainly designed this book for the reader to do just that!
I read SYMPHONY OF BLOOD several weeks ago, and still can't get over what a FUN and WELL WRITTEN book it is! This is one of those books that you can't put down from the first page to the last, and will end up being a movie!
If you haven't read a horror book, and don't know where to begin, SYMPHONY OF BLOOD is the book to read first! You'll find yourself cringing and giggling at the same time -- an interesting feeling!
Even better, while knowing that you're hooked on HANK MONDALE, there's a hint that we'll be seeing him again, soon!
You can read all the other reviews for more details if you want, but I suggest that you stop wasting your time and BUY THIS BOOK! I mean, really... you spend more than $2.99 for coffee every morning. Why not have a good laugh?
I originally downloaded the sample and enjoyed it, but, to be honest, the price and lower scoring reviews dissuaded me. I wasn't sure I wanted to take a chance. Then I noticed the book was on sale months later, so I snapped it up and decided to see if the poorer reviews were right-on, or not.
Well. For the most part, they were.
The premise itself is rather unoriginal PI is hired to protect self-centered socialite. It's the supernatural aspects and Pepper's great writing that made the book worthwhile.
Sadly, however, that wasn't enough.
No, the book is copyedited just fine.
Yes, the structure is odd. I didn't find it as distracting as others did, but I can't say I enjoyed it. It was a relief to finally see some pieces of the puzzle fall into place once I got to the monster's POV, but I think that's more of a flaw than a positive. I could live with it, though. I can see what the author was going for, so I'm okay with it.
The real problem was that huge, cavernous plot hole. I got to the last page and let's just say I would have heaved it were this a print book. I don't get it? Why? I'm willing to suspend disbelief. I'm willing to go along for the ride. But it's got to make sense, and you've got to give me some sort of pay-off. But in this case, I read through the entire book, went through the whole thing, and I felt ripped off. Seriously pissed. One bullet pages and pages ago would have solved the whole thing.
That being said, Pepper is an amazing writer and storyteller. My gripes are all structural. So I would, and will, read other works by him.
